Bertha Mirl Poole and Emmett Earl Handy


Per your earlier request Gail...This is my Aunt Bertha and Uncle Emmett. They lived in Fresno CA for as long as I can remember. Bertha was the Daughter of Tyford Franklin Poole, Son of Moses Greenworth Pool. She was a very sweet lady. I have very fond memories of her during my younger years back in the 50's and 60's. I remember her having a great sense of humor. Emmett, pictured here in his uniform was a Night Watchman/Security Guard for the Sunmaid Raisin Company in Fresno. He worked there many, many years. Bertha and Emmett attended my wedding in 1962, and signed as witness's to the solemn occasion.

    WOW!!! LOOK at that coat and handbag. Sure wish I owned them both right now.

    They were a lot of fun as grand-parents as well. Grandma Bertha would tell us how she and Aunt Marie used to cruise main street on Friday nights (they were both elderly at the time). She would take us out for ice cream cones as long as we didn't tell our parents when we were still fairly young. When she was in the mood, she would dance the Charleston. Grandpa would take us out to the seven sisters. Seven hills along a road in Livermore cruising over them fast enough to make you feel airborne. He would also sit with us to watch cartoons every time we did and he always brought plenty of Sunmaid Raisins every time he came to visit. I miss them a great deal.
